The Radiodetection gC.A.T4 Data Logging Cable Avoidance Tool with GPS/GNSS and Depth Function is a powerful tool used by ground work crews to locate and map buried power supply cables, telecoms cables/pipes, and other underground building structures before site excavation. This advanced tool builds upon the gCAT4's capabilities by adding depth measurement functionality. The depth can be displayed in either Metric or Imperial units, allowing for flexibility based on user preference. The gCAT4 also includes a SWING warning feature with in-built motion sensors that alert operators to excessive or rapid swinging of the instrument, promoting best working practices. The gCAT4 boasts an integrated data acquisition log feature capable of storing over a year's worth of surveying data. This data can be downloaded via USB and analyzed using the optional CAT Manager Software utility. GPS/GNSS automatically logs the geographic location of measurements without user interaction. The gCAT4 also includes CALSafe and service indication features. CALSafe automatically locks out the tool when a calibration expiry date is programmed, ensuring accurate readings. A service reminder indicator counts down 31 days before a pending calibration service, reminding users to schedule maintenance. The gCAT4's 'StrikeAlert' feature alerts the operative to underground services situated close to ground level, minimizing the risk of accidental strikes during excavation. In most cases, the gCAT4 should be used with Radiodetection's Genny4 Signal Generator. This allows the instrument to operate in 'Genny mode,' enabling the location of services that don't emit electromagnetic fields or carry long-range radio signals.
