The C.Scope DXL4D Datalogging Depth Measuring Cable Avoidance Tool is a robust and sophisticated cable locator that can be used independently or in conjunction with a C.Scope Signal Generator. It accurately identifies and measures the depth of metal cables and utility pipes, preventing costly and hazardous cable strikes during excavation phases in utility, construction, and rail projects. The DXL4D features four distinct modes for efficient and precise cable/pipe detection. In standalone mode, "Power" mode detects signals from live electric currents in underground cables, while "Radio" mode identifies radio-type signals from both cables and pipes. When paired with a signal generator, the DXL4D can detect a wider range of cables, including small, thin, or unearthed ones, thanks to the 131kHz frequency emitted by the SGA4 and SGV4. The one-watt power output enhances accuracy by energizing long and deep cables/pipes. "AllScan" mode detects frequencies beyond the capabilities of other modes. Depth measurement is a core function of the DXL4D. It measures obstacle depth from 0.1m to 9.99m with an accuracy of 5%. The "AlarmZone™" feature alerts the user when cables are particularly shallow (trigger depth is user-adjustable), while a "Swing Indicator" safeguards accuracy by warning against excessive locator swinging. Beyond depth measurement, the DXL4D offers peak hold for enhanced cable/pipe location. Its datalogging capabilities store approximately 12 months' worth of data with detailed contextual information for each inspection. This data can be transferred to a PC via USB. Readings are displayed on the locator's backlit LCD screen, and further analysis is available through the free C.Scope PC Toolkit software.
