Manufacturer: Megger

Despite its compact, handheld design, the Megger MIT485/2 Insulation Tester is a sophisticated device that can voltage test insulation up to 500V and 100G. The feedback-controlled insulation test voltage is now accurate to within +2%, instead of the previous +10–20%, meaning that testing is more accurate and there is less risk of damage caused by over-voltage. It is primarily intended for use in the telecommunications or cable testing sectors. The user can then easily select the correct pair using the on-screen interface by connecting concurrently to A, B, and E test leads using the three terminal connection. Consequently, the Megger MIT485/2 can be used as a traditional two terminal device, but there's no need to switch wires when taking different measurements. The Megger MIT485/2 is easy to use because it has pre-set test voltages of 50V, 100V, 250V, and 500V. The user can also set custom voltages between 10 and 500V. A clear pass/fail indication on the screen simplifies the results, and precise readings for the resistance and current test voltage are displayed. Tests are timed out automatically after a predetermined amount of time, and dynamic readings are also depicted through a moving "analogue" arc. While the Megger MIT485/2 automatically detects voltage and stops testing if it exceeds user-adjusted limits, feedback control of voltage improves safety and accuracy. Once more completely customizable, an insulation buzzer alerts the user if insulation exceeds a predetermined threshold. For continuity testing, the Megger MIT485/2 has two test currents of 200 mA and 20 mA. The continuous, automatic range now extends from 0.01 Ω to 1MΩ. 'NULL' lead resistance compensation improves accuracy, and ratings for differential and REN measurement are provided. There are also true RMS voltage readings available (0 to 600V AC/DC). The Megger MIT485/2 can also measure capacitance between 0.1nF and 10µF and frequency between 15Hz and 400Hz, among other general measurements. Improvements over the previous Megger MIT480 range include a redesigned back-stand, a compartment for six cells with a separate fuse access, and a redesigned case. The instrument's large, two-line display and analogue needle provide a clear, dynamic display of measurements, and it is IP54 weatherproof certified in addition to being over-molded for enhanced protection. Excel/CSV files containing data can be downloaded with ease thanks to Bluetooth connectivity. The Megger MIT485/2 is a multipurpose, safe measurement tool with a plethora of safety features and remarkable measurement capabilities over insulation testing, capacitance, voltage, and continuity testing. Premium silicone leads, an SP5 switched probe, an owner's manual CD, six AA batteries, and a sturdy carrying case are included.
